CBA - Thomson Foundation Bursary

Summarydesc: 

The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) and the Thomson Foundation are offering a bursary for employees of CBA member organisations, working as a radio or television (TV) journalist, to attend the 3-month summer course on International Broadcast Journalism in Cardiff, United Kingdom (UK) in 2008. The bursary is open to full-time staff of member organisations from Commonwealth developing countries (i.e. from all except Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the UK).


The International Broadcast Journalism Course covers subjects including writing (for radio or TV), news selection, reporting techniques, interviewing, presenting, packaging, field direction, planning, political reporting, sports reporting, court reporting, investigative reporting, programme appraisal, editing, documentary techniques, idea development, team leadership, ethics and values. Participants also get to visit a number of broadcasting establishments and undertake a one week work experience with a BBC or independent station. The Bursary covers fees and living costs (for one person only). It does not include airfare which the bursar or his/her organisation should cover.


The deadline for application is March 3 2008.
