CBA Bursaries

Deadline Date

Varies, depending on the bursary

The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) is offering various bursaries to full-time staff of CBA's member organisations and to experienced United Kingdom (UK) producers or journalists. Some are for staff from developing countries in the Commonwealth for post-graduate courses in the UK. Others are for staff in a developing Commonwealth country to pursue university study other than in the UK. Others provide short travel grants for staff of CBA member organisations. The CBA joins with the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to provide the CBA-DFID Travel Bursary Fund for journalist travel to a developing country.

The CBA Master of Arts (MA) Bursaries are in international journalism at the City University and in broadcast-related subjects at the Westminster University, both in the UK. The scholarship is tenable for one year.

CBA Universiti Brunei Bursary is for a one-year Masters in Public Policy at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

The CBA-DFID Travel Bursary Fund invites applications from any experienced UK-based television producer or multi-media journalist who works for established broadcasters or production companies, who seeks to extend their knowledge of the developing world, and who wishes to work on programmes/stories in a Commonwealth developing country for transmission on UK television. Established freelancers may also apply as long as their application is supported by an industry referee.

Airfares of selected bursars are to be paid by the bursars' organisations, and a guarantee to this effect must be given. Others are to be met by the candidate or the candidate's organisation or are included in the bursary. Please consult the CBA Training and Bursaries website for more information.
