Event/Training Summary: 

This one-week course, run by the African Media And Research Foundation (AMREF), is aimed at providing opportunities for the participants to develop a critical and informed understanding of health education and promotion issues. The key is to encourage interdisciplinary methodologies to health education and promotion.

The course is intended for health and health related personnel including: nurses, doctors, pharmacists, clinical officers, community health workers, social/community development workers, occupational health personnel, project managers and project officers in health and health-related fields.

 

The course objectives are to:

  • equip participants with skills and knowledge in the use of different health education and promotion methodologies;
  • explore communication approaches for behaviour change and practic;
  • develop appropriate health education and promotion strategies and demonstrate how its integration may bring about synergy in health development programmes;
  • acquaint participants with monitoring and evaluation approaches and their application in health education and promotion;
  • equip participants with advocacy and networking skills appropriate for health education and promotion.
