Event summary

This five-day course offered by the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF), is designed to equip participants with the ability to mainstream gender in their programmes and activities. 

The specific objectives for the workshop are to:

  • strengthen the overall capacity of the participants in gender analysis;
  • equip the participants with skills and techniques for gender mainstreaming;
  • appreciate the importance of mainstreaming gender in their programmes, projects and activities.


The course covers the following main units:

  • Gender, gender equality, development, rights and gender mainstreaming.
  • Gender analysis – concepts, framework and methodology.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of gender mainstreaming.

Participants, upon successful attendance of each short course will be awarded an AMREF certificate of participation stipulating the topics covered.

Registration Information

The course is intended for middle management level officers in government ministries and development agencies responsible for health programmes, projects and activities.

Training costs covers lunch, stationery, field trips and all course related learning materials. All payments to the course should be made two weeks to the commencement of each course in cheques payable to AMREF or through bank transfer to the AMREF account.
