The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation is offering these grants, which provide seed money to individual women, AAUW branches and AAUW state organisations, and local community-based nonprofits, for innovative programmes or non-degree research projects that promote education and equity for women and girls. Women who are United States (US) citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply.

 

One-year grants provide seed money (US$2,000 - US$7,000 ) for new projects. Topic areas are unrestricted but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls.

 

Two-year grants provide start-up funds (US$5,000 - US$10,000) for longer-term programmes that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of efficacy through leadership or advocacy opportunities. Topic areas are unrestricted but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls.

 

Deadline for applications is January 15 2009.
