Development planners and NGOs are becoming increasingly committed to incorporating a gender perspective into their work. They face many challenges, however, in its practical application. In this course you benefit from how to analyse, plan, and implement this perspective into effective development practice. The course is geared towards people active in the field of development, enabling them to better apply analytical tools and strategies to ensure that gender is prioritized on project and programme agenda. Practitioners who wish to improve their basic gender analytical skills and participatory training methodology will also benefit from this course.

 

Course objectives

 

  • Explore the relations between gender and development
  • Gain a stronger understanding of equality
  • Practise the use of gender analytical tools
  • Acquire knowledge of development planning around gender roles and needs
  • Get exposed to methods of creating gender awareness in development practice

 

Who can apply?

Course participants comprise staff from international and local NGOs from the North, the South and transition countries, donor organisations, support organisations and civil society umbrella bodies.
