Moot Discusses Polio Eradication

Summary

This article discusses the convening of a high-level meeting in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on the topic of social mobilisation and communication strategies with regards to polio eradication. Outcomes of the meeting included commitment to ensuring the strengthening of these strategies - especially through the use of electronic media (such as polio talk shows) - and regular presentations by district health communication support officers (DHCSOs).

In attendance were the World Health Organization's National Polio Officer, Senior Surveillance Officer, Assistant Director for the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), and Polio Focal Person from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), among others.
