King Baudouin International Development PrizeRegionAfrica, Latin America, South Asia, South East and East Asia, South Pacific Deadline DateFebruary 1 2008 The Brussels-based King Baudouin Foundation invites nominations for the 2008-09 King Baudouin International Development Prize. The King Baudouin Prize is presented every two years to reward the work of persons or organisations that have made a substantial contribution to the development of countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Beyond its actual financial value, the Prize provides its winners with international visibility and promotion. The 2008-09 Prize, worth 150,000 euros, will be awarded in the spring of 2009 at the Royal Palace in Brussels. Previous prizewinners cover a broad spectrum of fields, from literacy to the education of rural communities, technology transfer, new forms of credit, fair trade, good governance, and protection of human rights defenders.
