Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is accepting applications for the GK3 Media Fellowships Programme through which it is inviting journalist and media practitioners to attend GK3, Third Global Knowledge Conference: Emerging People, Emerging Markets, Emerging Technologies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 11 to 13 2007. The GK3 Media Fellowships Programme is GKP's commitment to support media practitioners who actively report on development by ensuring their presence at GK3. Through this programme, GKP intends to support 15 Media Fellows from the regions of Africa, Asia-Pacific (including Oceania), Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Europe and South Asia to attend, participate in and report on GK3, on the following basis:

  • Fellows must have prior knowledge and understanding of development from a global perspective as well as in relation to development trends within their national or regional context; and
  • Fellows must be fluent in English, as GK3 will be conducted entirely in English only.



Fellowships are open for application to journalists (reporters, editors, broadcasters, producers, and other media practitioners) who are interested in learning more and generating greater awareness about the application and promotion of Knowledge and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (K4D, ICT4D).



The deadline for application is October 31 2007.

You will need to submit the following:


  1. The names, designations, and contact details of 2 referees that GKP may contact;
  2. Clippings or other indications of your writing or broadcasting experience on a development-related subject;
  3. A short statement explaining why you should be a GK3 Media Fellow; and
  4. Your preliminary travel plans.



Please note that you may be required to provide, at a later date:

  1. Proof of leave taken to pursue the fellowship; and
  2. An indication of possible write-ups discussing story ideas, and a suggested list of GK3 panellists that you would like to interview.
