LocationNairobi, Kenya Event summaryThis workshop is the first regional workshop conducted under the Advancing Women’s Leadership and Advocacy for AIDS Action initiative. The goal of the regional workshop is to build the leadership, advocacy and technical expertise of women, particularly women living with HIV, working on the frontlines of HIV/AIDS work in Africa. According to the organisers, the Africa workshop will be delivered by master trainers from the 6 focus countries (Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Zambia) in collaboration with the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) trainers. The three-week workshop is meant to be intensive and highly participatory, providing a supportive learning environment for south-south exchange of best practices and experiences, technical depth, strategy development and skill building. The workshop offers region-specific technical knowledge on the epidemic and its impact on various populations, and highlighting successful approaches to HIV prevention, voluntary counseling and testing, care and support, and access and adherence to antiretroviral treatment. The course aims that participants will develop a greater appreciation for their individual leadership styles and capabilities and enhance their programme management, financial sustainability and advocacy competencies. Click here for more information Registration InformationDeadline for application is September 21 2007. Only applications from women living and working in the 6 focus countries will be reviewed. The workshop will be conducted in English and selected applicants must be highly proficient in written and spoken English. If selected for the programme, participants' tuition, travel and per diem costs will be fully covered.
