The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) are inviting entries in the third WASH Media Awards competition. The competition is open to journalists in developing and developed countries who publish or broadcast original investigative reports on issues relating to water supply, sanitation, or hygiene (WASH) in their countries. Journalists can submit one piece of work, such as: an article from traditional print or recognised online newspapers, magazines, or journals; a radio broadcast; or a television documentary or report. Eligible works must be published or broadcast between March 1 2009 and April 1 2010. Articles or broadcasts can be submitted in English, French, Spanish, Russian, or Portuguese. Works not originally published or broadcast in one of these languages must be translated into one of the five competition languages. The winners in the seven competition categories will be invited to participate in the World Water Week (Stockholm, Sweden, in September 2010), as special guests of WSSCC and SIWI. Prizes will be awarded in each of the competition languages and for the best developing country journalist's entry focusing on gender (women and WASH) and the best entry from a developed country journalist.
