Programmes
- Steinhardt Master of Arts in Media, Culture, and Communication - This degree in Media, Culture and Communication prepares students to understand and analyse culture and communication environments and to become acquainted with key debates and scholarship in communications, media studies, and related fields in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of human and mediated communication. Beginning with foundation courses in theory and research methods, students then specialise in one of five areas of study. These include: Persuasion and Politics; Interaction and Social Processes; Cultural and Visual Studies; Technology and Society; and Global and Transcultural Communication.
The degree includes an internship. The internship programme promotes the integration of academic theory with practical experience. In addition to completing administrative tasks around their respective work environments, interns are often exposed to networking opportunities, mentored by industry professionals, and taught the skills necessary to succeed in their industry. Above all, the internship programme is meant to expand student understanding of the dynamics of the ever-changing field of communication. The department has an internship manager dedicated to building relationships with professional organisations in New York City and beyond, offering practice-based study abroad programmes in Asia and Europe.
