Description

The Institute of Social Communication offers courses which integrate theory and practice relating to communication processes. The Institute sets out to provide students with adequate exposure to media projects, and operational competence. Hands-on training is the mark of all production courses.

Programmes

  1. Diploma in Social Communication - The diploma programme targets media workers and has a particular emphasis on community development, democracy and peace-building in Africa.

  2. Bachelor of Arts in Social Communication - Undergraduate:
    The B.A. programme prepares socially aware communication students, sensitive to the challenges posed by globalisation, to promote social transformation, with particular attention to community development, democracy and peace-building in Africa.

    The courses integrate the cognitive and experiential dimensions of learning, by providing thorough theoretical knowledge of communication processes, adequate exposure to media projects, and by promoting operational competence through hands-on training. Field experience is scheduled during vacation times, to give students the opportunity to have a practical experience of the world of media. These activities are part of the academic curriculum: they expose students to practical media operations, enable them get a better and practical feel of different types of media, and orient them towards different areas of specialisation.
