Description

The School of Communication Studies was established in 1972 as the Institute of Journalism and Communication with three main objectives:
(a) to improve the practice and understanding of journalism and mass communication;
(b) to add to knowledge through research; and
(c) to serve both practitioners in mass communications and the public who rely on the media.

Programmes

  1. Graduate Diploma in Communication studies - This course includes the following subjects: Mass communication; communication research; print journalism (news editorial); public relations; advertising; electronic media; and general complementary courses.
  2. M.A. Degree in Communication Studies - This course includes the following subjects: Communication theory; advanced quantitative analysis; international communication; development communication; communication management; communication and public opinion; advanced qualitative analysis; media, culture and society; outside concentration courses; and communication history.
