Publication Date

2007

Summary

This second version of the ICT-in-Education Toolkit is intended to provide decision makers, planners and practitioners with interactive instruments and reference materials to formulate, plan, and evaluate education development programmes enhanced by information and communication technologies (ICTs). It is a multi-volume resource from infoDev, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), containing six toolboxes - a total of 19 tools - that provide interactive instruments and step-by-step guidelines which assist users to work in teams for the purposes of:
  • collecting and analysing data;
  • diagnosing situations and issues;
  • formulating scenarios for appropriate ICT interventions;
  • generating implementation plans;
  • evaluating implementability and effectiveness of ICT interventions; and
  • making necessary post-evaluation decisions.
It is designed for: countries and educational institutions as they struggle with the challenge of introducing and integrating ICTs into education; UNESCO, infoDev, and others, in their advisory services; and officers and specialists of development agencies as they identify, prepare and appraise ICT-in-education projects or ICT components of education projects.

The Toolkit also contains a Reference Handbook that summarises worldwide knowledge, research, and experience on the effective use of ICTs for education.

Users are asked to apply for free registration before accessing the toolkit. Registration provides the organisers with data about who will be using the toolkit and how they will be using it.
