Critical Studies in Media CommunicationSummaryCritical Studies in Media Communication is an academic journal in media and mass communication from a cultural studies and critical perspective. It focuses on cross-disciplinary works from various disciplines, critical traditions, methodological and analytical approaches, and theoretical standpoints. Topics include media audiences, representations, institutions, technologies, and professional practices. Academic disciplines include history, political economy, critical philosophy, race and feminist theorising, rhetorical and media criticism, and literary theory. According to its editors, the journal takes an inclusive view of media, including newspapers, magazines and other forms of print, cable, radio, television, film, and new media technologies such as the internet.
Each issue contains original articles and might contain a critical forum and articles on a specific topic. For example, Volume 24 Issue 1 of 2007 contains titled articles and the Forum section on political cartooning and Garry Trudeau as follows:
