Summary

This health promotion framework summarises the best options to be applied in the fight against stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean. It aims to demonstrate how important the fight against stigma and discrimination is in the prevention and control of the epidemic. It outlines some key strategies in the area of reduction of stigma and discrimination in the health care setting and for application of a health promotion approach. Finally, it recommends policy and legal changes necessary to minimise the occurrence of stigma and discrimination at community level, work place, and in health care settings.
