Summary

This publication is part of the Community Development Project by Soul City. Provides information about violence in all aspects of society, it shows the effects on individuals, families and communities in everyday life with the purpose of education and prevention. This booklet examines issues relating to the effects and preventative measures against violence, attacking the roots of violence in the community.

The booklet is designed for use by the community and in the home, by parents, adults, youth, teachers, health and community workers. Topics covered include, what is violence, wrong ideas about violence, violence as it pertains to South Africa, what are the reasons for violence, how violence changes lives, violence against women, actions to take against violence, men, young people, children and violence, how to stop violence and support services for those experiencing violence.
