People's Health Assembly (PHA) Book SeriesPublication Date2000 SummaryThis series of five books, which average 60 pages each, has been produced as part of a national campaign in India called the Jan Swasthya Sabha (JSA). This advocacy movement is being coordinated by a National Coordination Committee (NCC) consisting of 15 Indian networks of people's movements and NGOs. JSA is the Indian circle of the People's Health Movement (PHM), a worldwide movement to establish health and equitable development as top priorities through comprehensive primary health care and action on the social determinants of health. This social movement grew out of the People's Health Assembly (PHA), which took place in December 2000 in Savar, Bangladesh.
The series was developed to guide the block, district and state seminars that were taking place in preparation for PHA. Information is provided as a background for advocacy work, in the form of description, charts, and cartoons. Books in the series include:
