National Advocacy Campaign on the Right to Information

Publication Date

2003

Summary

Implemented by the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), and the British Council, this campaign seeks to raise awareness of the importance of information in governance and democracy across the entire island of Sri Lanka.

The Manual is a 15 page set of trainer-notes which is the basis for a course given to journalists to assist them in developing an understanding of "freedom of information principles." It also provides information on the practice of journalism and role of media in a participatory democracy. The course is designed for the duration of a day and should hold approximately 20 - 25 participants. Each session can be carried out independently and the course can be modified for shorter durations.

The complete training manual for these two workshops, as well as the core module, can be downloaded here.
