Gates Award for Global Health - 2009

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is offering this award of US$1 million to an organisation "that has made a major and lasting contribution to the field of global health." Any organisation from any country in the world that has substantively improved the health and the lives of people in need may be nominated for the Gates Award for Global Health; the organisation may be a charitable institution, a private company, or a public entity.


According to the organisers, this award was established to recognise those who "have developed processes for improving health, especially in resource poor settings, with measurable results. The Award recognises past achievements and the promise of continuing activity and improvement."


The award will be presented in Washington, DC, United States, at a special awards ceremony during the Global Health Council's Annual International Conference.

The deadline for application is October 31 2008.
