These awards are granted by the European Union (EU) to honour print and online EU journalists who promote an understanding of the benefits of diversity and the fight against discrimination. Entries should be published in print or online January 1 2007 to September 30 2007 from an editorial office based in one of the 27 EU Member States. Articles may be submitted in any of the 23 official EU languages and must have a minimum number of 3,800 characters (incl. blanks).

The "For Diversity. Against Discrimination" Journalist Award 2007 is granted for articles on issues of discrimination or diversity on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, gender, disability, and sexual orientation.
This year, the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All, a new award, will be granted for an article dealing with discrimination on the basis of race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability and referring to the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All.


The overall winner, two runners-up, and the winner of the special prize will win a study trip to an EU country of their choice to suit their specific journalistic interests. (Total value: EU€12,000) In addition, the three European winners and the winner of the special prize will be invited to the awards ceremony held in November 2007 in Lisbon.
