The COM+ Communications for Sustainable Development
Award recognises excellence in the field of
communications, demonstrated through clear impacts
and real changes in support of sustainable
development. Two awards of US$10,000 will be presented
in December 2007 at the Consultative Group on
International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) Annual
General Meeting and the 13th Conference of the
Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention
on Climate Change - one award for a campaign that
communicates
science for people and the planet, and the other for
a climate change campaign.
Criteria for Judging
- Campaign design in terms of promoting sustainable
development objective(s);
- Campaign outcomes and impact such as audience
reached, shift in behaviour, or change in policy or
practice; and
- Accuracy, creativity, and innovation in communications.
Nominees may be individuals or teams from any institution, organisation, company, or other group. The campaign may take the form of any medium, including print, performance, and broadcast. The outcomes and impacts must have been achieved recently, within the last year.
Materials Required to Submit a Nomination
A rationale for the nomination addressing the criteria stated above and a description of the project, not to exceed 800 words, should be submitted with a statement of support for the nomination provided by the director or head of the nominee’s affiliated institution. Supporting documents may be attached to the online nomination form. Any relevant materials that cannot be attached to the online form should be submitted, with four copies, to the CGIAR Secretariat by courier along with a cover letter to the address below.
