Sponsored by the Women's Fund for Peace and Human Rights, the Yayori Journalist Award focuses on women journalists and artists (individuals or groups) who vividly describe and transmit the situation of women in the world with a gender perspective. Any genres of expression such as films, writings, or printed material will be considered, but nominees must submit the works that show their achievement. The awardees will be presented with an award certificate and ¥500,000 yen. In the case that there are multiple awardees, the prize amount will be divided among them.
The deadline for application is August 31 2008.
The Yayori Journalist Award focuses on encouraging women journalists and artists (individuals or groups) by promoting the activities of the recipient of the Yayori Award through any form of media, such as print, visual, audio, or performance. The selected individual or group, who is performing her/their activities mainly in Japan, will receive (Japan)¥500,000 to visit and interview the recipient of a related award, the Yayori
Award, and develop a project. A venue for a presentation of the completed project will be provided. Because of the scale of the project, nominees must have some experience in the area of production.
Interview/research of the Yayori Award winner begins at the presentation ceremony on December 9 2007.
All of those interested are encouraged to self-nominate through the submission of a nomination form and all applicable references. The reference material submitted will not be returnable. Individuals with a nominee in mind are also free to submit recommendations for any and all appropriate candidates.
