Award for Children's Science News

Region

Global

Deadline Date

August 1 2007

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) offers this award for science journalism for children as part of the AAAS Science Journalism Awards. The award is open to young journalists worldwide for work distributed via any medium - print, broadcast or online. The prize aims to recognise excellence in reporting about science for children up to age 14. The subject matter may be in most fields of science, but features focused exclusively on health or clinical medicine are not eligible. The Children's Science News competition is open to both United States and foreign news media.

The awards will be presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting. The award for each category is US$3,000. AAAS will reimburse winners for reasonable travel and hotel expenses. In cases of multiple authors or producers, only one person's travel expenses will be covered.

Entrants may submit an individual item, a series of up to three segments, or a group of three unrelated items. Entrants should submit nine copies of the entry, each with a completed copy of the entry form attached. The organisers request English translations of foreign-language entries whenever possible.
