10th Annual International Peace Pals Art Competition and Exhibition

The World Peace Prayer Society, the Goi Peace Foundation to the United Nations Global Teaching and Learning Project (UN CyberSchoolBus) invites children throughout the world between the ages of 5 and 15 to participate in The 10th Annual International Peace Pals Art Competition and Exhibition. Entries are divided into three age categories for the awarding of prizes: 5-8 years, 9-12 years and 13-15 years.

The competition’s theme is ‘Communicating Peace.’ Pictures should include the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth," and show in the artwork how media and communication and information technologies can be used to help build a peaceful world. All artists will receive a certificate of participation. Awards will be decided by a panel of international judges. First, second and third place entries in each of the categories will be made into greeting cards, which will be awarded to all winners.

Rules for the competition are:

  • The Message: Each design must incorporate the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”
  • Size: A single dimension measuring 4.75“ x 6.75” (12 cm x 17 cm) in either a horizontal or vertical format.
  • The Design: This may be drawn, sketched or painted in any style on paper or cardboard. However, no organic elements or loose items can be used.
  • The Number of Entries: Entries from each person is unlimited.
  • Information Required: - On the reverse side of the artwork, the following information should be typed on an adhesive label or printed legibly: full name, age, address, city, country, school or institution and grade. Include with the entry a self-addressed mailing label for a certificate of participation.

Thousands of children from many countries participated in the 2006 Art Exhibition. Through drawings and paintings, their artwork expressed the theme “Living Together in Peace and Harmony.” Four entries from each age category were awarded at a celebration event on the International Day of Peace, September 21 2006 at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
