The Malaria Awards ceremony was established by the Malaria Foundation International (MFI) to honour and inspire individuals and organisations dedicated to the prevention, and treatment of malaria. At the inaugural Malaria Awards ceremony held in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2006, MFI recognised heroes in the sciences, business, media, and education for their efforts in malaria control and eradication.

MFI is currently accepting nominations for its 2007 Annual Malaria Awards ceremony, to honour 2006 accomplishments. Nominations are now being accepted for the original categories, as well as newly created ones, including lifetime achievement, person of the year, celebrity of the year, global media reporter of the year, and many more.
