The Alcan Prize for Sustainability is a US$1 million prize that recognises organisations demonstrating a comprehensive approach to addressing, achieving and further advancing economic, environmental and/or social sustainability.

The purpose of the prize is to recognise and reward organisations that:

  • further the principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability;
  • demonstrate impact;
  • meet or address specific development needs in the areas of health, education, access to water, etc.;
  • value innovation and partnership as a path to sustainable success; and
  • create opportunities for not-for-profit, civil society and non-governmental organisations to secure additional funds and resources.
