The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is now accepting entries for the 2007 Gold Quill Awards. Each year the Gold Quill Awards competition attracts more than 1,000 entries in a variety of categories from IABC members and non-members in over 25 countries. The programme aims to cross communication disciplines and reviews entries from professional communicators ranging from strategists to tacticians. All Gold Quill Awards winners receive international recognition in IABC's magazine, Communication World; acclaim at the international conference in June 2007 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States; mention on the IABC website; consideration for publication in IABC's resource materials; and more.

Some of the award categories related to community relations and developmental communication include:

  • Economic, Social and Environmental Development - Programmes designed for community audiences, governments and funding agencies concerning sustainable development or other economic, social or environmental issues. This includes international aid, public awareness, corporate social responsibility, economic revitalisation, cultural preservation, education, literacy, health, economic poverty reduction, employment, and indigenous and heritage protection programmes.
  • Community Relations - Programmes designed for community audiences, including not-for-profit and volunteer organisations.
  • Issues Management and Crisis Communication - programmes designed for internal and/or external audiences to address trends, issues and/or attitudes that have a significant impact on an organisation, such as public policy, labour relations, crises and the environment.
  • Publications - Production of internal or external publications in all formats, except electronic. Includes social responsibility reports, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, leaflets, newspapers and magazines.
  • Multilingual Communications - Programmes designed for bilingual and/or multilingual audiences, including non-native language speakers.
  • Multi-Audience Communication - Programmes designed for more than one internal and/or external audience.
