For Latin American and Caribbean journalists...
The Institute for Press and Society (Instituto Prensa y Sociedad, IPYS) and Transparency International, with the financial support of the Open Society Institute, have announced the fifth edition of their annual award for the Best Investigative Report on Corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean. The winner will receive US$25,000. Two awards of US$5,000 will also be given to work of special merit. Reports published between January 1 and December 31 2006, which uncovered significant aspects of a corruption case through a reporter's own investigation, are eligible.
Journalists or teams of journalists may present one or several investigative reports published in a Latin American or Caribbean media, in any of the languages accepted in these criteria. Teams must designate a representative. Reports published in printed, audio or video formats may apply. Media companies are not allowed as applicants. Reports published anonymously or under an alias are admitted with an authorship certificate from the media responsible. Associations or media companies may forward one of their journalist's reports given it complies with these criteria.
