For films that reflect the MDGs...
Media Communications Association International (MCAI), New York Chapter, and the United Nations (UN) Department of Public Information are pleased to announce a call for films for Stories from the Field, the Third Annual United Nations Documentary Film Festival. The Festival is presented in cooperation with The New School. It will take place April 20-22 2007, and will feature screenings of the films, panel discussions, and award presentations. The selected films will be announced on March 1 2007, and listed on the Stories from the Field website shortly thereafter.
Stories from the Field was founded in 2005 as the United Nations entered its 60th year. Its mission is to screen films that reflect the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which pledge to:
To be considered, a film must reflect one or more of the above MDGs. Finalists will be selected by a screening committee of UN officials, MCAI representatives, New School faculty, and Mount Sinai global health experts, based on the topical relevance, artistic merit, and production values of their work.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
UN Feature (15 min. & longer)
UN Short (under 15 min.)
UN Public Service Announcement (PSA)
Public Film (60 min. & under)
Deadline for entries is January 31 2007.

- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Improve maternal health
