World Awards for Best TV and Radio programmes on HIV and AIDS

This awards competition has been launched by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in conjunction with their "HIV and AIDS Global Media Strategies" conference to be held in May 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The competition is open to all producers from private and public broadcasting organisations as well as to freelancers. The programme entered for the competition must have been broadcast between December 1 2004 and December 1 2006. Television programmes should be between 5 and 60 minutes long. Radio spots should be less than 2 minutes long.

1. Best TV programme to reduce discrimination against HIV positive people

2. Best TV documentary on treatment of AIDS

3. Viewers' Choice


Radio

4. Best Public Announcement on HIV and AIDS

A media festival of media will be held May 26-27 2007 in Kuala Lumpur to preview the programmes short listed from the competition. The programmes will be screened and voting for the viewers category will be organised. The programmes will be made available on internet for preview and voting by people worldwide. From the perspective of AIBD, this will be a unique opportunity for broadcasters and international agencies to evaluate the media on HIV and AIDS.
