Deadline Date

June 30 2007

The 2007 Research Awards Programme is providing small research grants, two mentoring workshops, and distance mentoring to support the work of young researchers working in the field of gender, sexuality, and health. The goal is increasing the capacity for research among young scholars from the region of Southeast Asia and the Greater Mekong sub region in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

The objectives are:

  • to provide research awards of up to US$7,500 to six young researchers for nine-month projects with funding by the Rockefeller Foundation-Southeast Asia Regional Programme.
  • to provide four-day mentoring workshops for short-listed applicants and four-day workshops following the research period for mentor inputs on analysis and writing.
  • to publish and disseminate research findings including possible translation into native languages.
  • to provide continuing support including direct supervision at research sites in their home countries when possible as well as mail and email support by consortium members.

Preference is given to junior staff working with universities, government agencies or non-governmental organisations (NGOs), particularly those who have attended regional or national training courses on gender and sexuality.
