New Tactics Partnership Grant

Region

Global

Deadline Date

May 22 2007

These 6 grants offer human rights organisations access to tactical ideas and options for their work through information available from New Tactics. The funding is for the purpose of disseminating this information. The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is calling for proposals from organisations with innovative ideas on disseminating this human rights information in their grant opportunity: ‘Promoting Tactical Innovation and Strategic Thinking in the Global Human Rights Movement’. There are 6 partnership grants with a maximum grant amount of US$7,500 for human rights organisations.

These funds are intended to enable human rights activists to access and utilise practical information on a wide range of tactical ideas and options in order to improve strategies to advance human rights. Eligible costs for such dissemination include staff, communication costs, translation, printing/photocopying, and other relevant project expenses. Human rights organisations and practitioners will have an opportunity to benefit from New Tactics materials, tools and resources on tactical and strategic thinking to apply and share experiences of using strategic thinking and innovative tactics in advancing their efforts.

In making selections, the New Tactics Project will favour activities that demonstrate clear goals, reach a significant audience, and explain how the organisation intends to apply New Tactics project materials, tools and resources to an issue or situation the organisation is addressing. Such projects as translation and distribution of materials, website content creation, or tactical mapping and project tools are examples.

Free and Plural Media

What is your answer to James Deane's blog question: "Is a free and plural media more important than elections in securing democratic development?"
