The Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship provides an opportunity for a woman journalist working in the print, broadcast or internet media to spend an academic year in the United States in a tailored programme that combines access to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for International Studies and other Boston-area universities and two media companies, The Boston Globe and The New York Times. With this flexible structure, the fellow will have opportunities to pursue academic research as well as develop her journalistic skills covering topics related to human rights and social justice.

A successful applicant will:

  • be dedicated to a career in journalism in the print, broadcast or internet media (freelancers are eligible to apply)
  • be committed to coverage of human rights and social justice
  • describe how the fellowship will be a transformative experience for her career
  • have three or more years of journalism experience
  • have excellent written and verbal English skills
