The Polaris Project Fellowship Program offers the opportunity for a wide range of individuals, ranging from undergraduate and graduate students to attorneys and staff from Departments of State, to work on projects and programmes to combat human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The programme aims to train future leaders to advocate and serve, while providing a passionate and supportive working environment.

At the beginning of each session, Fellows receive over 40 hours of intensive training on human trafficking as well as programme-specific training related to their particular position. Once trained, Fellows are integrated into the daily operations of their programme and engage in its projects and continuing education activities within the anti-trafficking movement. All fellowships are unpaid, and most are designed as full-time positions. The fellowship programme operates in three sessions per year: Spring Session occurs from January to May, Summer Session occurs from June to August, and Fall Session occurs from September to December.
