For developing country journalism/communication students...
This internship, offered three times per year, brings students from developing countries to Washington, D.C. in the United States to work at the Scripps Howard News Service for 10 to 14 weeks each. The internship is designed to give these students an opportunity to cover events in the U.S. capital, as well as to report and write feature stories for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire. Stories written by Scripps Howard interns may be published in newspapers across the United States.
The internship is open to undergraduate journalism or communications students who intend to pursue careers in print journalism after graduation. Interns must be fluent in both spoken and written English. The Scripps Howard Internship pays for: travel expenses to and from the United States; an apartment in Washington, which is shared by interns; living and transportation costs; and a health insurance policy. The internship does not pay a salary beyond travel and living expenses.
Interns who are selected in the programme will work in one of three periods: January to April (deadline: October 1), June to August (deadline: March 1), or September to December (deadline: June 1).
