Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Round 6

Region

Global

Deadline Date

August 3 2006

The Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has issued a call for proposals in a sixth round of Global Fund grants.
The launch of Round Six enables countries to seek funding support for working towards global targets such as universal access to AIDS treatment and prevention by 2010 and to cut the number of deaths from tuberculosis and malaria by half by 2015.

Proposals should:

  • support the scale-up of effective existing programmes and/or be innovative projects;
  • meet the Global Fund’s eligibility criteria;
  • clearly demonstrate how the resources sought from the Global Fund are additional to existing resources; and
  • be both complementary to existing programmes and support the national strategy for the component(s) applied for.

Around half of the Global Fund’s financing is being spent on medicines, mosquito nets to prevent malaria and other products, while the other half is for strengthening health services.

Application Information

Grant proposals may be submitted by countries to the Global Fund, and will be evaluated by an independent Technical Review Panel. Proposals for funding must generally be made through a Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM). These country-level partnerships develop and submit grant proposals to the Global Fund based on priority needs at the national level through consultation with a broad range of public and private stakeholders. Applicants are strongly encouraged to coordinate any proposal developments with their respective Country Coordinating Mechanism as Non-CCM applications are only accepted in exceptional circumstances. Proposals considered to be of high quality are recommended to the Board of the Global Fund for approval.

Applicants should submit a proposal using the Round 6 Proposal Form. Applicants can contact their local UNAIDS and/or WHO offices or the Global Fund Secretariat on the address below to obtain the Proposal Form, or download the forms from the website.
