UNDP Human Development Fellowships for Asia Pacific (Media)RegionGlobal, Africa, South Asia, South Pacific Deadline DateApril 30 2006 The aim of the United Nations Developement Programme (UNDP) Human Development Fellowships for Asia Pacific (Media) is to encourage dissemination and advocacy on issues of concern to countries of the Asia Pacific region from a human development perspective. The fellowship was developed based on the premise that stronger media coverage of human development could promote focus on critical development concerns. Some ways in which the media can raise awareness about human development issues include: radio programme series, short films, a television programme or series, a series of print media articles, television debates, etc. The broad theme for 2006 is “International Trade and Human Poverty in Asia and the Pacific” with a focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Any specific aspect under this broad theme may be covered. Some examples are:
For 2006, two Fellows are expected to be selected. Applicants should be a citizen of any of the Asia-Pacific developing countries; a mid-career accredited media professional; and have not less than three years of professional experience in print or broadcast journalism. Application InformationSelection will be based on an assessment of complete application with proposal not exceeding 2,000 words, including a proposed budget, an estimated project timeframe (preferably 12 months or less) and a brief but concrete dissemination plan for the end product.
