Focused on senior broadcasters from developing countries working in both the public and private sectors, the One World Broadcasting Trust scheme will bring a select group of broadcast professionals to the United Kingdom (UK) for 2 weeks from October 19-30 2009. This will be the 14th such group brought to the UK since 1996.

This programme aims to provide an opportunity to contribute ideas, share concerns, and develop new goals. It is also a chance for relationships and contacts to be made and for the UK media to hear what participants have to say and to learn from their experiences. A typical 2½ week programme would include meeting senior professionals from a variety of organisations.

Applications are welcomed from developing country broadcasters. Participants must be able to demonstrate a substantial broadcasting background and suitable experience to be able to participate fully and gain the most out of the programme. The organisers will be looking for senior or up-and-coming professionals, not for junior production, editorial, or management personnel, who can show their eagerness to develop their skills further and seek greater challenges.

Specific selection criteria include:

• Fluency in written and spoken English
• 2-3 years experience at a senior level of broadcasting with a clear upward career path
• Top career potential
• Sufficiently senior to be able to propose and implement change, with line management responsibility for programme producers/directors
• Hands-on broadcaster or manager (not an academic or theoretician)
• Assertive and confident, and thus able and willing to engage actively in debate or dialogue with UK broadcasters
• Has a practical and worthwhile idea of how the time in Britain might best be used
• Has not participated in a similar fellowship scheme before
• Evidence of drive and motivation in your career and associated field of broadcasting
