Presented in partnership with The Freedom Forum, the Annual Excellence in Urban Journalism Award encourages and recognises quality reporting on major issues facing United States urban populations, particularly inner cities.



The award is open to professional journalists who work in a variety of formats and submissions may be made by individuals or teams. The winning entry receives USD $5,000, an award and recognition at the annual meeting of The Enterprise Foundation.

Topics may include, but are not limited to housing, public safety, community development, child care, employment and transportation. Ideally, entries focus on impact and outcomes. Supporting evidence of the effectiveness of the item, such as letters, editorials, etc., are welcomed.

Applications are due by June 1 2005.
