Programme Summary

GlobalHealthReporting.org, created by the Kaiser Family Foundation in partnership with the Gates Foundation, serves as an online clearinghouse for information about HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria, and includes news summaries and events, links to other resources, detailed information about specific countries, and tools for journalists. The website is designed for use by journalists and others - including researchers, policymakers and non-governmental organisations.

Communication Strategies

The GlobalHealthReporting.org website aims to provide journalists and others with information, resources and tools that will support reporting and research around HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Content includes:

  • The latest news on global health issues;
  • Resources, reference libraries and the latest information and statistics on HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria;
  • Reporting resources for journalists, including media contacts, tutorials and other educational, training and grant opportunities for health reporters;
  • Country-focus pages with in-depth information and resources about the three diseases;
  • A calendar listing upcoming events and trainings related to HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria and health journalism.

The information aims to help users: stay up-to-date with the latest news on HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria from around the world; gather background information for a story, including data points and contact information; and develop a story line through research and online discussion. Online tutorials and manuals are provided to help improve reporting skills.
