Programme Summary

Recasu is a humanitarian assistance programme administered by the Network for the Defense of Independent Media in Africa (NDIMA). Its objective is to help displaced writers live a less miserable life by providing subsidies for their upkeep.

Communication Strategies

They provide subsidies of between US $100 and US $500, given in the currency of the country of refuge. Recipients include creative writers, journalists, fine artists, broadcasters and film makers.

Development Issues

To qualify for support, artists must prove that they are political, not economic, exiles.
