The Barcelona International Television Festival was created in 1997 and one of it's main aims is the fight for ethical content in audiovisual communication media in television for children and youth.

All filmmakers, students, legal entities, and production and distribution companies are invited to submit their films destined for television to the festival within the following criteria:

a. Films and productions made for children and youth.

b. Films and productions about children and/or dealing with childhood subjects.

c. Films made by children, youth and audiovisual students.

d. Films can be from 30 seconds to 60 minutes in length.

The UNICEF Prize

The Barcelona International Television Festival (FITB) annually awards the prestigious UNICEF Prize to the most outstanding national or international audiovisual production, which is dedicated to childhood and youth. All formats will be considered and principally taken into account are those films, which highlight ethical values and the defence of human rights according to the Convention on the Rights of Children. The international jury is presided by UNICEF.



Works eligible for this prize must have been produced after December 31 2002.



Audiovisuals sponsored by The United Nations, UNESCO and UNICEF will not be allowed to compete for the UNICEF Prize and Members of the Jury are also not permitted to send in entries to participate.


The Creative Prize

Additionally, the Barcelona International Television Festival (FITB) annually awards another prestigious prize; the Creative Prize Diploma to the best national or international production produced by student/s in the audiovisual field and is dedicated to children and youth. All formats will be considered and principally taken into account are those films, which reflect the concepts of entertainment, formation and education in the most original and innovating way.

N.B. All participants for this section need to send a copy of the certificate (college, university, institute etc.) that endorses the production and student quality of the participant.
