Text Date:

April 1 2005

Onelinedescription:

For environment reporters…

Summarydesc:

The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is calling for entries for its awards for reporting on the environment from journalists internationally. The contest honours work that has appeared in newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and online services, as well as from radio and television. The work will be honoured in nine categories, each with a USD $1000 prize.

A panel of journalists, journalism educators and other qualified individuals appointed by the awards committee will judge qualified entries and pick place-winners. Judges may select no winners in a category if they decide there are no deserving entries. The awards committee, whose members are appointed by the SEJ board, is the final authority for interpreting contest rules and may disqualify entries that do not comply with those rules.

Winners will be announced and awards presented at SEJ's annual conference in Austin, Texas, September 28 to October 2 2005.
Award-winning stories with Internet no-charge links will be archived on SEJ's Web site. For stories that require an access charge, SEJ’s Web site will archive links to the outlet’s main Web page. Hard copies, tapes and CDs will be kept on file at SEJ headquarters.
