Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) AwardsRegionGlobal Deadline DateApril 1 2005 The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is calling for entries for its awards for reporting on the environment from journalists internationally. The contest honours work that has appeared in newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and online services, as well as from radio and television. The work will be honoured in nine categories, each with a USD $1000 prize. A panel of journalists, journalism educators and other qualified individuals appointed by the awards committee will judge qualified entries and pick place-winners. Judges may select no winners in a category if they decide there are no deserving entries. The awards committee, whose members are appointed by the SEJ board, is the final authority for interpreting contest rules and may disqualify entries that do not comply with those rules. Winners will be announced and awards presented at SEJ's annual conference in Austin, Texas, September 28 to October 2 2005. Application InformationSubmitted work must have been aired or published between March 1 2004 and February 28 2005. Participants do not need to be SEJ members or an environment specialist to enter. Reporters who cover health, politics, science, energy, local government, or any other beat are encouraged to enter work on an environmental subject. Students may enter work that was published or broadcast in a media outlet accessible to the general public. SEJ welcomes entries from outside the US, but non-English entries must be accompanied by a complete and accurate English translation.
