Seeds of Survival Fellowship Programme

Region

Global

Deadline Date

June 1 2005

Global Service Corps (GSC) is recruiting fellows for the Seeds of Survival (SOS) Programme beginning on June 20 2005. GSC fellows will be joined by counterpart fellows from African regional offices of partner non-governmental and community-based organisations and together will attend a month-long training in Arusha, Tanzania.

Following the training, GSC fellows and partner fellows will be assigned to partner field offices for five months. In some cases this placement may be extended an additional six months. Together, GSC fellows and partner fellows will build capacity and train community members in HIV/AIDS prevention and care, nutrition, sustainable agriculture food production and income generation.

Fellows selected for the June SOS Programme will be responsible for funding the USD $2500 training fee. Fellows will also be responsible for their round-trip airfare to Arusha, Tanzania and health insurance. GSC will assist in obtaining discounted airfares and insurance, and will provide assistance in fundraising and tax deduction information for training and airfare costs. There are a limited number of training fee scholarships available on a competitive basis.

Application Information

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must submit an application via email (gscoperations@earthisland.org), a resume and a personal statement (no more than one page) about their career interests, how they think the fellowship would help prepare them for the next steps in their career and what they can personally bring to the programme.

Applicants must state that they are able to meet the financial obligations for the programme, with or without scholarship assistance, and that they are available for at least six months beginning June 20 2005.
