Reach - Soul Buddyz Evaluation Illustrative Results
Summary
Reach
3 out of 4 children interviewed (74.8%) had heard of Soul Buddyz; 2 out of 3 children interviewed (67.1%) watched, listened to and / or used Soul Buddyz matarial on television, radio, or the Grade 7 booklet respectively;
- 64.9% of children watched Soul Buddyz on television;
- Radio reach was lower at 6.9%;
- 36.2% of Grade 7s had read the Grade 7 booklet.
The Soul Buddyz television and radio dramas were targeted at children aged 8 to 12, and not at adults. However, the exposure amongst adults (parents and teachers) was relatively high:
- more than 2 out of 3 parents / caregivers (68.6%) who knew about Soul Buddyz, watched Soul Buddyz on television - this amounts to more than 1 in 3 of the parent sample interviewed (36.2%);
- Usage of the parenting booklet was fairly low at 2.3% of parents interviewed;
- Almost 2 in 3 teachers interviewed (62%) had watched Soul Buddyz on television;
- close to 1 in 5 (18%) had used the Soul Buddyz Lifeskills Booklet for Grade 7s.
3 out of 5 children recognized the Soul Buddyz reflector bands (57.1%); 4.6% of children who had seen a reflector actually had a Soul Buddyz reflector band in their possession.
1 in 3 children recognized the Soul Buddyz posters (31.4%).
