Radio Chikuni Listening Clubs – ZambiaCountryTonga, Zambia RegionSouth Pacific, Africa Programme SummaryRadio Chikuni Listening Clubs is a project by Radio Chikuni, a community-based radio station in Zambia. The station broadcasts in English and in Tonga, a local language. With the help of the World Bank through the Zambia Social Investment Fund (ZAMSIF), the station started the project in 2002 in an effort to encourage the community develop in the areas of faith, justice and peace, SCC (Small Christian Communities), women's and youth issues, education, AIDS, culture, health/nutrition and agriculture. Communication StrategiesThe project formed fifty-five clubs of not less than twenty members. The Chikuni Development Education Programme (CDEP) helped to identify the clubs. Development IssuesHIV/AIDS, Health, Agriculture, Culture,Human Rights, Education Key Points"The main aim was to give the community a greater capacity building in participating in Radio programmes by identifying issues of concern and make programmes on the same for themselves.
