Asian Media Information & Communication Centre - Asia-Pacific RegionCountryMalaysia, Singapore, Thailand RegionGlobal, Africa, South East and East Asia, South Asia, South Pacific Programme SummaryEstablished in 1971, Asian Media Information & Communication Centre (AMIC) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation actively engaged in communication documentation, research, training, publishing, and press development in the Asia-Pacific region. AMIC's goal is to contribute to the development of all forms of communication in the Asia-Pacific region by helping individuals and institutions involved in communications to stay abreast of developments in the field. AMIC broader purpose is to foster socio-economic progress in the region. Communication StrategiesAMIC helps provide a forum for exchange of views and opinions among communication scholars and practitioners in the Asia-Pacific region. It also encourages the development of institutional capabilities to conduct appropriate research programmes through networking, exchange of research fellows, and joint research activities. Specifically, there are four distinct programmes within the Centre:
